3D sun & shadow simulator and Daylight Score for real estate
All times shown are TRUE SOLAR TIME (based on the sun's position, not clock time or time zone). The Daylight Score is an original SunPath IQ heuristic combining day length, peak sun altitude, and facade orientation. It is not derived from or related to any third-party scoring system.
Sunlight analysis measures how much direct sun a property receives across the day and year based on the sun path, the home's facing direction, and shadows cast by nearby buildings and terrain.
Facing direction is the compass bearing (0° = North) the front of the home points toward. A south-facing (180°) facade receives the most direct sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere.
True solar time is measured from the sun's position in the sky, not clock time. Solar noon is when the sun crosses the meridian at your longitude, SunPath IQ reports sunrise, solar noon, and sunset in true solar time.
Day length (0–40) + peak sun altitude at solar noon (0–30) + facade orientation relative to the sun (0–30) = a 0–100 score.
Not directly, but it often leaves the facade unshielded, increasing direct sun and glare. In Feng Shui the same configuration is called a poison arrow or sha chi.
